Havana, in former Mambo Grill space, swings with tropical touches
Havana has swung almost seamlessly into the lively, pan-Latin rhythm established by Mambo Grill in this River North location.
Mambo, a 14-year veteran, is expected to reopen nearby later this year. Former Manager Noe Bautista is co-owner of Havana, which opened earlier this year. He has refreshed the 115-seat space, creating a hip, sophisticated Cuban vibe in blacks and browns with far more comfortable booths. Tropical accents are understated; just a few languid ceiling fans, some potted palms and uptempo, Latin jazz. Weather permitting, the large casement windows fronting Clark Street are cranked open to the 10-seat patio.
